Joint Entrance Exam – Main (JEE Mains)
Conducted by Central Board of Secondary Education
JEE Mains score offers admissions to interested candidates in undergraduate engineering programmes at NITs (National Institutes of Technology), IIITs (Indian Institutes of Information Technology) and other centrally funded technical institutions (CFTIs) located across the country.
JEE Main 2018 offline (pen-paper) exam will be held in 1st week of April while the online exam will be held in 2nd week of April.
Application Details: JEE Mains registrations has commenced from 1st week of December and will conclude in 1st week of January.
JEE Main application process basically involves 3 stages listed below.

JEE Main exam eligibility criteria requires candidates to fulfil multiple aspects so as to appear for this engineering entrance exam.
Date of Birth
Only those candidates whose date of birth falls on or after October 01, 1993 will be eligible. However, in the case of Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Persons with Disabilities (PwD) candidates, upper age limit is relaxed by 5 years, i.e. SC, ST and PwD candidates who are born on or after October 01, 1988 are eligible.
Number of Subjects in the Qualifying Examination
Candidates must have taken at least five subjects in class 12th/ qualifying examination in order to be eligible for writing JEE (Main)
Number of Attempts
The number of attempts which a candidate can avail at JEE (Main) is limited to 03 (three).
JEE Main admit cards will be available for download by students on the official website from the second week of March.
JEE Main official answer keys will be available online on the official website in 2nd last week of April.
CBSE announces JEE Mains results in last week of April every year.
Joint Entrance Exam Advanced (JEE Advanced)
Joint Entrance Examination (JEE) Advanced is conducted by the seven zonal IITs with guidance from the Joint Admission Board (JAB). Only the top 2.4 lakh rank holders in JEE Main are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced.
JEE Advanced exam eligibility entails that candidates clear Paper-1 of JEE Main. The exam will be held in last week of May every year.
Registration for JEE Advanced will be held in 1st week of May every year. Students can download their admit cards online after the deadlines of registration.
Candidates who wish to take this exam have to fulfill certain criteria as fixed by JAB. Thus, the eligibility criteria for JEE Advanced 2018 is as follows:
Performance in JEE Main
Candidates who fall among the top 2,24,000 rankers in JEE Main across all categories are eligible to appear for JEE Advanced. Out of this number, the percentage of candidates eligible for admissions under different categories are as follows:
- General category candidates (from the common merit list) – 50.5%
- OBC-NCL candidates – 27%
- SC candidates – 15%
- ST candidates – 7.5%
- Pwd candidates – Horizontal reservation of 5% in all the above categories
JEE Advanced results: 2nd-3rd week of June
JEE Advanced results will be declared by any IIT, the organising institute of the exam year, in the second week of June online on the official website. The exam results will encompass a candidate’s qualifying status and scores. To check JEE Advanced results, aspirants will have to enter their registration number, date of birth, mobile number and email ID.
After appearing for JEE Advanced for admissions to the premier IITs, aspirants also need to appear for JoSAA(Joint Seat Allocation Authority) counselling.
JoSAA holds the joint seat allocation process for admissions to 97 institutes including 23 IITs, 31 NITs, 23 IIITs and 20 Other GFTIs. Admissions to all the undergraduate academic programs offered by these 97 institutes will be made through a single platform
Birla Institute of Technology and Science Aptitude Test (BITSAT)
Conducted by Birla Institute of Technology and Science
The Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test (BITSAT) is almost as tough as the JEE Advanced, as per the statistics. BITSAT will be held in online mode i.e. it will be a Computer Based Test (CBT).
Admission test for:
Engineering degree courses in BITS campuses in Pilani, Goa and Hyderabad.
Only those aspirants with a minimum of 75 percent marks in PCM in their class 12 Board exams are eligible for it.
Candidates having first rank in all the central and state boards in India for the year will be given direct admission to the programme of their choice, irrespective of their BITSAT score as per the eligibility criteria mentioned above.
Availability of online application form start in December every year. Online tests held in 2nd-3rd week of May.
BITSAT result (Iteration) will be announced by BITS Pilani in the first week of July. Before the same is released, BITSAT scores will be made available to students tentatively in the third week of May.
BITSAT hall ticket/admit card will be released by BITS Pilani in the month of April. Aspirants should note that admit cards will be released only for those aspirants who have booked their slots.
BITSAT slot booking will commence from the month of March. Through the process, eligible aspirants will be able to book the date, time and slot for BITSAT entrance exam which is held in May in two sessions – morning session (9 am to 12 noon) and evening session (2 pm to 5 pm
The VIT Engineering Entrance Examination (VITEEE) is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology for admission to 5,000 engineering seats. It is counted as one of the best private engineering colleges of India.
Admission test for:
Engineering degree courses in VIT Vellore and VIT Chennai.
Candidates should have secured an aggregate of 60 percent in PCM/PCB in plus two examinations (or its equivalent). The aggregate should be 50 percent for SC/ST/OBC, J&K and Northeast states candidates.
Start of VITEEE application form availability: Novemberonwards
Exam held in 2nd week of April every year
Result will be announced in last week of April.
SRM Joint Engineering Entrance Exam (SRMJEEE-UG)
SRMJEEE 2018 eligibility criteria require candidates to fulfill multiple aspects if they want to appear for this engineering entrance exam.
- Aspirants must be a Resident Indian, Non-Resident Indian (NRI), holder of PIO or OCI card issued by Government of India.
- NRIs, holders of PIO or OCI card issued by Government of India who have not taken the SRMJEEE (UG) must apply under International student category o
- Candidate must have completed the age of 17 years as on December 31 of the admission year.
Candidates may apply for SRMJEE from November to March of the exam year.
Exams held in 2nd – 3rd week of April every year
SRMJEEE (UG) admit cards/hall tickets will be available for download after students book the slots for the exam.
SRM Institute of Science & Technology will release SRMJEEE(UG) results/ranks in May along with all the other details related to the counselling process. Based on the total marks acquired by candidates in SRMJEEE (UG), the merit list is prepared. SRMJEEE (UG) results will be available on the official website of the exam – www.srmuniv.ac.in. The institute will also intimate students through SMS/Email.
SRMJEEE(UG) 2018 Counselling will commence in the month of May.
The West Bengal Joint Entrance Examination (WBJEE) is a popular engineering exam of the country taken by more than 2 lakh candidates every year.
Admission test for:
All the engineering colleges in the state of West Bengal.
Candidates must have passed higher secondary (10+2) examination of West Bengal Council of Higher Secondary Education or equivalent examination from a recognized council/board.
Candidates seeking admission to government engineering/technology colleges, reserve category seats of any institution, including TFW category seats, must be domicile of West Bengal.
Start of online form filling in month of January.
Exam held in 2nd week of May every year and result will be declared in 1st week of June.
WBJEE results: 1st week of June
The WBJEE result will show the scores obtained by the candidates in the WBJEE entrance exam as well as the rank obtained by them in the state. The candidates can download their WBJEE rank card after checking WBJEE result. The WBJEE result will mention the candidate’s personal details, marks obtained in each subject along with the rank. The rank card will show the total score and component scores obtained by the candidates in both Paper I& Paper II. Ranks will be allotted only to those candidates who have qualified in the WBJEE written exam.
WBJEE Cut off will be the basis of selection of the candidate for a particular course. Candidates shall obtain the scores equivalent to the scores or ranks in the WBJEE Eligibility, in order to appear for the WBJEE Counselling.
The WBJEE Cut off List for engineering/architecture and pharmacy courses will be prepared on the basis of the candidate’s performance in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.
